The way outside of the box

by Petri Silas

A jack of many trades, Sid Hille has reimagined himself as a pianist many times before, but this disc may prove to be a pinnacle in his career.

A jack of many trades, Sid Hille arrived from Germany via the Netherlands and the US in 1994. Made with an agile team, Ugetsu (meaning “rain” and “moon” in Japanese) reaches far and wide.

Hille has reimagined himself as a pianist many times before, but this disc may prove to be a pinnacle in his career. Apart from the man himself, guitarist Teemu Viinikainen and reedsman Jukka Perko shine throughout on the artsy set filled with diverse elements ranging from spoken word to the kantele and beyond.
